Isaac and Johann are in charge of random news. June is in charge of Mangas and animes section and unreliable pics and snooping....and Kristen is helping out with my news, telling me which is important.
Anyway, June found a lot of stuff today.......
Plans for a new Darker Than Black animation were strongly hinted at in the infamous Bones animator list that was leaked to the public last year, but it is now official - a continuation to Darker Than Black was revealed in the latest Young GanGan magazine.
The eventual announcement of the new Full Metal Alchemist series referred to in the list did much to help the list’s credibility as a real internal document; this latest news only serves to strengthen that conviction, much to the delight of fans of this supernatural action series.

Translation: TV Anime Continuation confirmed! Darker than Black
The earlier speculation by fans concerning a new Negima! series turned out to be slightly off, as the series will not be on TV, but rather 2nd season continuation to the popular Ala Alba OVA series.
The official announcement is on the Ala Alba official website, the key points are translated below:
In answer to the expectations of fans of Negima who want to see more of the anime, a 2nd season of the OAD has been announced!
The 2nd season of the OAD will include 4 episodes. The series will begin after Summer 2009 and will be published sequentially (with tankoubon releases). As with the 1st season, it will go on sale along with first-time limited edition tankoubon.
As for a major point of concern, the series will continue right after the end of Shiroki Tsubasa Ala Alba! In other words, right into “Mahou Sekai-hen” (Magic World Chapter)!
This will be an invitation to battles, sexiness and a new Negima world!
The production will once again be handled by Shaft, and the series will retain the same director and character designer as the first season.
Ken Akamatsu will be continuing his work as general producer of the series, something that must be excellent news for Negima fans.
The OAD itself has been attracting attention for a variety of reasons…
The apparent real world reference used for the music hall Azusa visited in episode 9 of K-ON! has been discovered by intrepid otaku explorers, succeeding in unearthing the 3D world locales used in photographic references much as they did with previous expeditions.
Truly, nothing can hide from the all-seeing eye of 2ch.
The location is apparently a small music hall (of the sort so popular in Japan) named Mojo, and located somewhere in Kyoto, which makes it all the more likely that someone from Kyoto Animation might be familiar with the establishment.
Unfortunately for local otaku, stalking the music hall in real life is unlikely to lead to an encounter with anyone quite as moe as the actual twin-tailed guitar player:
A South Korean publisher has recently produced a manhwa, or Korean manga, detailing the early life of a young and distinctly moe Barrack Obama.
The author translated his manhwa from Korean in order to enter the American market with his works.
If the manhwa proves to be successful future moe biographies in the “Great Hero” series may be written for Mr. Obama’s secretary Hillary Clinton, Charles Darwin, and others.
The publishers expect the book to be such a success that they have reserved front table displays at major American bookstores and have set up an overseas office as well.
The manhwa itself will cover Obama’s life in Hawaii, visiting Kenya, and his Ivy League schooling. It seems unlikely it will be anything but a hagiographic paean to the great leader’s rise, with any controversy left out in favor of lionising Obama, as is the fashion.
Isaac and Johann are pretty hard-working too.
A university has attracted almost universal criticism for defending at least six men who gang raped a fellow student, refusing to report them to police on the grounds that “they might commit suicide”.
The crime in question was perpetrated by six students of a Kyoto university, in their early to mid twenties, all of whom have been identified as sports specialists
The men took turns raping a highly inebriated19-year-old girl at a drinking party, who had apparently passed out after drinking a large amount of beer. Reportedly, they held the door to the room into which they took the girl shut when a staff member attempted entry, and this aroused suspicions.
The victim reported the rape to the university, which investigated and suspended the perpetrators. It did not bother informing police though.
Police later acted to arrest the six, and all but one denied the crimes, claiming “she wasn’t drunk” and “she consented”. One however admits to the rape and confirms the details established by police.
In addition to the six, several other students are thought to have been present who might have intervened, but did nothing, and police are investigating this.
Whilst the crime itself has been given much coverage by the media, the astonishingly lenient response of the university has attracted equal attention, virtually all condemnatory.
The university first conducted an internal investigation, which concluded that “indecent acts” had indeed taken place. However, they did not report the matter to police, instead opting to merely suspend the rapists.
The university head explained that, had the case been made public, “the perpetrators might be in danger of committing suicide,” and due to these “educational considerations” they were not even expelled, and excused itself further by saying that it was not sure whether a rape had actually taken place, although it did not reveal details of its “investigations”.
He later defended his leniency further to students: “It was a heinous act which trampled on her rights. I wish to raise awareness of human rights, and for you all to reflect on this case. Maybe I’ll be called soft, but we also have a duty to allow these offenders to reform and go out into society at large,” referring to their suspension rather than expulsion.
It seems their victim will be expected to continue attending the same university as her rapists, assuming any of them manage to return to university in timely fashion after serving any ensuing sentences.
The reaction to the case, in particular the handling of the rapists by the university, has been one of outrage, with most observers concerned that the university is more concerned about protecting the perpetrators than it is about what appears to be a very clear example of a crime.
